Public Schools Now Booking Me To Teach Their Pupils About Money

In my latest short video on YouTube, I am talking at a school about money. Talking at schools is one way I give back to the community. One thing that happens when you become rich is that a main driver for you becomes mission and purpose. Once you have the things you want in life and can provide your family abundance, your main desire will be to make an impact on the world. This is something that isn’t discussed enough.

But purpose and mission doesn’t start once you become successful; it matters from the very beginning of the process. Even if you are just starting out, there are ways to ensure you can make your growth align with your greater purpose. Having a purpose beyond making money will keep you going and focused. The mission is often a key to success for many people. In this article, we will discuss 3 ways to integrate purpose into business life.

1. Help those coming after you

When you are just starting out in property or business, you will have a lot of questions. Some of those questions will be best answered by a very successful person, but others are best answered by someone who has recently done exactly what you have. It can be helpful to speak to someone who is 6 months ahead of where you are. It can be inspiring to speak to a landlord who has just got their first rent payment if you are about to buy your first property.

Wherever you are in the process of becoming successful, there is someone just behind you that would love your help. Be helpful to that person. Provide answers to questions and be there for moral support. Not only is this good business in terms of networking, it allows you to give back. Help others as you would like to be helped and grow together.

2. Give to good causes

Set aside a certain percentage of your profits for a cause that is meaningful to you and your purpose. It may only be a small amount to start off with, but it is a good habit to get into. This means what you are doing is now something bigger than yourself and your family. Your success will be changing the world in the way you want it to be changed. The better you do, the more real world impact you will have. It is a great motivator!

Once you are successful enough, you can even start your own charity so that you can ensure the funds are being directed to the projects you care about. That’s what I did. I created the Samuel Leeds Foundation which exists to help people in poverty both in Africa and the United Kingdom. When you become a multimillionaire it isn’t just your family that benefits. Firstly you are offering something to the market that helps your customers; secondly you employ staff and contribute to the economy; and thirdly you can help the causes you really care about.

3. Speak out about success

Many people choose not to speak about their success. This can be because those in the public eye get criticised a lot or because they want to keep the keys to success to themselves. Sometimes people don’t want to speak up because they don’t yet feel successful enough to talk about it. Still others have been taught that it is rude to talk publicly about money. But whatever the reason for keeping quiet this leaves few financial role models for people that are just starting out.

Knowing and learning about rich people is an important part of a person having the tools to become successful themselves. When you become successful, and each step along the way, don’t hide your light under a bushel, shine brightly to show others the way!
