Securing Property Deals | Be Comfortable Being Uncomfortable!

At the Property Investors Crash Course, I gave everyone the task to find the best property. One of the groups included Yordan who took the plunge and phoned the estate agent. After the call, we talked about what happened and what lessons he could take from the experience.

In this article, I am going to explain exactly what Yordan did and what lessons you can learn from him.

Yordan’s Phone Call

Yordan is a 19-year-old lad who attended one of my recent crash courses. One of the things I always do at my training events is get people taking action for real. Writing notes and talking about theory isn’t enough. Yordan took on the nerve-wracking task of calling an estate agent to ask to arrange a viewing for a potential investment property.

On the phone, Yordan froze up and the estate agent didn’t understand what he was asking for. She thought he was asking to do a rent to rent deal when he was asking about buy-to-let. I jumped in and wrote down ‘buy-to-let’. Once he said that, everything was cleared up and he continued with the call.

Actually making these calls for the first time is really hard. Yordan showed real strength by taking the task on even when he wasn’t yet certain of what to say. After the call he spoke to the whole room about his experience which shows real guts. I am sure Yordan will go far, as he has shown himself to be an action taker who is willing to go outside of his comfort zone. He now also has a room full of property investors and potential property investors that know who he is (that didn’t know him before he made this call). If you meet him in future, you will know him from this article and video. That is an amazing head start at the age of 19!

The Lessons

In school, you are taught that it is bad to make mistakes. In business, you need to be comfortable going into uncomfortable situations where you may not know everything. You need to be able to take a loss and turn it into a win, just like Yordan did. You need to be able to put yourself in situations where you can learn lessons that will set you up for success next time. This can be very hard to do, but it is 100% necessary.

Of course, this is particularly hard to do without a support system around you. If you don’t have other people to push you forward, you will probably give up at some point. You also need someone that knows what they are doing to tell you what you are doing wrong. You need someone that can correct you and offer you moral support at the same time. That’s why attending events like the Property Investors Crash Course is so important. If you haven’t been to one yet, you must! It’s free (minus a £1 booking fee). When you do, you will be in a room taking real action to find deals. It won’t matter if you make mistakes because you will have others there to help you. At the crash course, you will learn how to be comfortable with being uncomfortable. That’s half the battle!
